Whenever we treat a patient, we do so with the intention of helping them to fully recover from whatever it is that brings them into our clinic. To achieve this, we use a system called Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes, Inc. (“FOTO”): “FOTO precisely measures patient function using Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) which makes functional assessments fast and easy for the patient” (FOTO Inc.). We use this system so we can treat you in the best manner for your condition. Let’s dive in to learn more about this system and what you can expect from using it during your time as a patient with Optivus Physical Therapy.
How Patients Use FOTO
Patients will first interact with FOTO during their initial assessment at our clinic. You will complete a full questionnaire to help us understand your specific area or body part of concern. Upon completion of this initial assessment, your Physical Therapist will give you a numerical score from 0-100 based on your questionnaire answers. You can try the initial patient assessment on the FOTO website here.
Throughout your individualized treatment at our clinic, you will revisit FOTO on multiple occasions to update your assessment to reflect your progress. This helps us better understand where you are at in your recovery and what we can add to your plan to help build even more strength and improve mobility.
How Physical Therapists Use FOTO
When our patients take the initial assessment with FOTO, we use those results to create a treatment plan that is completely customized to your condition and capabilities. Beyond this, the continuous gathering of patient feedback on their care allows us to focus on giving you the most value per visit. We are able to incorporate movement and exercise that most benefit your condition, and that will get you back to living your best life as quickly and safely as possible.
At Optivus, patient feedback is invaluable in creating the best care plan and for understanding your ability as you progress through treatment. If you are interested in learning more about our approach to care and how we incorporate FOTO in the treatment plans we develop, we encourage you to schedule an appointment to meet with one of our Physical Therapists and discover firsthand the benefits of this system.
